Pick-up your Alumni Homecoming tickets, itineraries, and some goodies for your 2019 Islander Homecoming Weekend. Enjoy some complimentary snacks and refreshments, browse through an old yearbook, and say ‘hello’ to our Alumni Staff.

All are invited to help Texas A&M-Corpus Christi TIP-OFF HOMECOMING! Enjoy live music from the Easy As, great food, and fun games. Plus, join the Student Alumni Association as they paint the anchor WHITE just for Homecoming. The anchor tradition dates back to 1947 and the days of the Tarpons and the University of Corpus Christi. Help us get the week started off right!

ALYSSA BARRERA ’10 ’12
A proud Corpus Christi native, Alyssa earned her bachelor of business administration in 2010, and then a master of public administration degree in 2012. She joined the City of Corpus Christi in 2011 as a graduate intern and worked her way up to the executive office, becoming the business liaison in 2014. She was named the Executive Director of the Downtown Management District in January 2018. Since taking office, she has spearheaded several key initiatives, bringing a new relevancy to the Downtown area. This includes addition of many new businesses, transforming Chaparral Street into a two-way road, and the returning of ‘Peppermint Lane’ to the downtown area.

Celebrate our Distinguished Alumni and Islander Athletic Hall of Honor inductees. Ticket prices are $35 for recent graduates (2014 or later) and $50 for all other alumni and individuals. Tables of 8 are also available for $350. This year’s honorees include:

- Distinguished Alumnus: Linda R. Benavides ’88 ’92 – Coastal Bend community advocate and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Foundation Board Member;
- Outstanding Alumnus: Dr. Frances Ufkes ’15 – Former Darmouth Professor and Community Advocate;
- Young Alumnus Award: Caitlin Bailey ’12 – Videographer & Editor, Global Foundation for Ocean Exploration.
Athletic Hall of Honor Inductions
- Katie Evans-Sanchez ’04 – Played Softball from 2001-2004. Currently holds nine career school records including career bases, career hits, and extra base hits;
- Ronnie Arrow – The first head coach in Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men’s basketball history, leading the Islanders for eight seasons, going 134-91 overall. Responsible for the team’s first NCAA tournament birth.
